The spread of the bamboo parquet testifies that even in the West the exceptional characteristics of this reed-like plant are beginning to be known and appreciated, which is not only used to make weaves and small objects as we are used to think. Rather…

The bamboo it has characteristics of hardness equal to those of steel and is able to withstand a compression of the weight double that which can be tolerated by concrete, which makes it suitable for structural uses even with load-bearing functions. As well as suitable for the construction of typical floors parquet.

The bamboo parquet has very interesting qualities: excellent resistance to abrasion, excellent flame resistance, excellent resistance to chemical agents, high hardness (it was 34% harder than parquet of red oak and 14% harder than maple parquet), high impermeability (a feature that traditional wooden parquet does not have), does not decompose and does not rot, does not release toxic agents, has good soundproofing power. For the treatment, vegetable oils are used that preserve its aesthetic qualities.

And the environmental impact? From this point of view, the bamboo it has nothing to envy to certified wood from cultivated forests. Indeed, while the most valuable bees take decades to reach maturity, the bamboo (which in botany belongs to the grass family) can be used after only 3-5 years because the growth is very rapid. Spontaneous growth or cultivation, short life cycle, no deforestation.

The production cycle of the bamboo parquet has a low environmental impact. During growth, the plant is not subjected to any chemical treatment and after a few years, through a sequence of processes, multilayer boards are obtained and therefore thebamboo parquet. The plywood boards can have different sizes and different structures: vertical, horizontal or intertwined.

Today the only limit to the spread of bamboo he was born in bamboo parquet in construction it is given by the still poor knowledge of the technologies used for this material. Availability in nature is not a problem, the price is cheap and the environmental impact of transport is identical to that of wood not to mention that, although it originates from Asian regions, today the bamboo it is widespread all over the world (because it is easy to grow) and increasingly commercialized.
